Update time!

It looks like today will be a dreary, rainy day, and that suits me perfectly. Things have been a bit crazy lately, so here's a small part of what's going on:

1. Class--I'm taking French 102 this semester, and it seems like it got harder all of a sudden. That's probably because I missed so much from being...

2. ...sick--I missed a day of work and some of class this past week for what the nurse thought was strep throat. It turned out to be just some sort of cold with all the symptoms of strep, and I'm finally starting to feel better.

3. Oh, Canada--why are you so far away? I went for a visit 2 weeks ago, and haven't really been happy since I came back. Now that we're both sure of our relationship and everything (Christmas break solidified it all), it's very difficult to wait to be together. Before when we had time in between seeing each other, it wasn't as hard because we could both lean on our insecurities about the relationship...now that those are gone, it's really great for us as a couple--just really hard.

4. Parents. My parents are fairly religious people, and my youngest sister was a missionary for a year (now majoring in the religion stuff at a crazy bible school). The plan is that if I get into a university for next year, I will move in with Aaron because (a) we're ready for that, and (b) it's the only way I can afford to move (well, not that I can really afford it, but that's another problem in itself). However, every time I have talked about next year's expenses with my parents, they've immediately asked about dorms and that sort of thing. The whole idea of living with Aaron was completely ignored, which I thought was strange (in some ways I think I'm still a little girl to them...oldest child syndrom? First to grow up? who knows...) Finally last weekend I decided to really try to bring it up by asking my mom all the questions about the start of their relationship (how they got engaged...how they lived...etc. she's always been very mysterious about the past, so I never knew anyways). Mystery solved...apparently they had lived together for 3 years and didn't want us to know about it because of their adapted-since-our-birth religious beliefs! The strange part was that I still got the impression that she didn't really approve of the idea, but since she did it herself she can't say too much. Now about telling my dad...eww...and my crazy-religious sister...actually that one might be a bit fun.

5. Schools--still waiting to hear from schools about whether or not I got in, which makes me a bit nervous. However, the last time I was at McGill I stopped in just to make sure that all the parts of my application arrived, and the person in charge said she recognized my name and actually had my folder out and was reviewing it at the time I stopped in! I hadn't said my name before I got to her office, so I'm taking it as a good sign.

6. Knitting--I am making some things for a store to display, and will be paid in yarn! Basically I'm knitting a bag and a scarf for the owner of a yarn shop and she's going to pay me in store credit (which is really great!). This means that I get to make stuff for free, which is fun, and I get free yarn to make more warm stuff to keep, which will help me get ready for next year. Here's to wool sweaters and socks to keep me warm in canadia (not a typo--it's just better that way)!

I think that's more than enough updating for now...if anyone actually made it through all that, congratulations, you deserve a prize! I feel like I'm never online anymore because of classes and being busy, but I'll try to post a little more often--if for nothing else, just to save myself from writing one huge update at a time. Although the upside is that I feel like I accomplished something today, and it's not even 10 yet. Ok, time to post...livejournal don't you dare screw up and delete this...
