Whoa, I'm alive!

Hello everyone,

Yes I'm still here. Life in general has been its busy self and playing with my iPhone seems to have taken over using an actual computer :) Seeing logospilgrim's lovely pictures and posts inspired me to continue writing here.

I begin my 5th year of teaching, 3rd at the same school (Hallelujah!) and 2nd in the same grade and classroom (Eureka!) tomorrow. I'm helping with CELDT testing for four days. We report back for teacher planning days a week from today and school begins a week from Thursday. CELDT testing is for students whose primary language is not English. This test helps us give students the proper interventions for success. Many students in my school are from Mexico. Today I'm getting my nails done and going by the school to pick up my keys. I can't wait to see my classroom. We get a lot of supplies for the students to start off the new school year. It's like Christmas in July opening all of the boxes!

Yesterday was particularly entertaining. We went to the hall of records in our county and in the process I became a witness for a young couple that was getting married. Their witness was stuck in traffic. It was great fun! I noticed many couples getting married. Clearly the current economy is forcing people to cut back on wedding expenses. One couple in particular made me laugh. The man was at least 20 years older than his fiance, she looked to be in her 40's. He said at the window when they told them the cost of getting a wedding license that it went up $33.00 in the past 5 years. I wonder if he's outlived many of his wives and decided to get himself a sweet young thing!

In other news I am finally WELL! Going to the lung specialist helped immensely. We've been following his advice and I've seen a huge difference. I'm also trying to eat better and have limited the amount of cheese and dairy I eat. I seem to have a sensitivity to dairy. I try to eat almost vegan most of the time, but I still eat meat on occasion. According to Mary Lou's Weigh platform I have lost 6 1/2 pounds. I love that platform because it doesn't give you your actual weight. That's fine with me...even when I was a size 3 I weighed a lot more than most people at that size.

Blessings Upon You,
The Irish Rose
