Thank you to my friends...other goings-on

Thank you to those who sent tea and sympathy concerning the death of my dear old friend Bill. It's weird to know I'm not going to get a phone call with him on the line for my dad when I'm at my parents. Or see him coming in the door asking if I'm getting in trouble and when I say no he'll say "well you should be!"

When my mom would answer the phone he'd often tell her it was her obscene phone call for the day! Sometimes he even told her a particularly raunchy joke or two!

I knew he wasn't doing too well, but I didn't realize how sick he was until I heard that he had died. But he lived life on his own terms and I think that is the most important thing.

I'm finally off track!!!!! Yea!!!!! Three whole weeks without a classroom! Next week I have a training in the new math curriculum. I'm looking forward to it because I have a tendency to start going stir crazy when I don't have something to do. I'll end up sleeping the whole day instead which is really unhealthy. I'm also getting paid which is a major bonus and having free breakfast and lunch! One of my team members will be there which is cool...it is always a lot more fun when you have someone else there with you because they make you pair up and do things in groups. I know group work seems to be the key in teaching students nowadays, but it is not for me. Give me a good lecture and I'm extremely happy. Being an intrapersonal learner does that...I want to rely only on myself for what I'm learning. I'm not a team-player type. I'd rather work alone.

I watched a few episodes of 17 Kids and Counting today. I love the Duggar family. I think they are such an inspiration. Lord knows I could learn a lot about budgeting from them. It's amazing that they live debt free.

I also watched Ruby which is a new show on Style. Ruby is almost 500 lbs. and this series is documenting her journey to lose weight and get healthier. It's set in Savannah, Georgia which is a place I so want to visit. It's beautiful. She is an amazing person and I think watching her every week is going to keep me more on track with my own weight loss journey. I, like Ruby, am losing weight more for health reasons. As I've gotten into my 30's and dealt with a pretty devastating ankle break I'm seeing how much my weight is affecting my muscles and joints. I'm in pain in my legs and feet a lot and I think if I can get under 200 lbs. like I was back in college I will feel a lot better and also get more energy back. The cool thing is I can still touch my toes! At PE or when I have my class stretch I make them touch their toes...I tell them if I can do it they certainly can do it. Now that the weather is cooler I think we can do a lot more PE activities outside. I saw what the heat did to a few of my students the day we went on a walking field trip and some of them are very out of shape. I want them to at least learn some basics that they can follow to stay in shape and eat healthy. It's hard for me to teach PE because I was never good at it and I really am not good at teaching it, but I think most of my students go home and sit on the computer or play video games all afternoon. They need to be more active.

Well time to go get ready. I think we are gaming tonight and my friend Tiffany may be coming over. I have clothes strewn across the bed. I spent the day cleaning different things that never get attention except when I'm off track like the baseboards in the guest bathroom. The Lysol scrubbing wipes are great! I love how they work on baseboards and walls...they work without taking the finish off.

Oh, and Hellboy 2 comes out tomorrow! Can't wait!
