If you're me, you know it's a good (and I don't mean good in the happy/fluffy way but in the powerful, will-change-your-outlook way) book when you're crying by page 35. *Sniffly*
Today (or rather yesterday, since it's 1am) my mom and I went out to lunch which was lovely and then went to get lost in Tattered Cover. I had gathered a huge list of books I wanted to check out from here and around the Flist and I found them all and examined them before making my choices. My mother treated me to one book, and I couldn't stop myself from buying one more.
So, I am currently reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and I also bought The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Saw the latter recommended at
madlorivoldmort's LJ, and it looked excellent.
I am very excited. If I loved books anymore you'd have to commit me to some sort of addict program. *Dorky squeal of glee*
Ahem, yes, for my own personal reference, here is the list of other books I intend to pick up when I have the money or find them at the library:
-Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (I promise I'm getting there,
capitol_barbie!!)
-Sister of My Heart by Chitra Banerjee Divajuruni (looks excellent,
quicheme, thanks for the rec!)
-One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
-The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell
-The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
-The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
-The Last Unicorn by Peter Beagle
-The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde (Oh my goodness, I am so excited about this one...I just read Jane Eyre this summer for AP Lit class and I loved it. I think the book looks like it will be very witty and clever and full of wonderful literary allusion)
