I'm going to try to waste less food. I've gotten better about it, but my use of left overs remains dismal. I'm still working on a way to combat this.
I also need to chip away at the amount of food stored in the freezer. By summer, I'd like to be using the freezer very little, in fact, since I'll be gone so much, and I don't want to have to move to Berkeley with a bunch of old frozen food. This ties in nicely with the above!
SO! I'm making a pommegranate syrup out of the pom juice Max's mom gave us from her tree. The juice has been frozen solid for a year and a half, so if I don't use it now, I'm never going to. That would be such a waste! I'm also making fried okra with the extra bag of okra I always buy when I make gumbo (yes, somehow its been sitting in the freezer since November. That must be a record for me!).
Mmmm... food...
ETA: While screwing around on teh intarwebz, I found this website called
Riot 4 Austerity, which seems pretty neat. Take a look!
