Went to bed last night after watching several episodes of "Dead Like Me", and got to snuggle with my sweetie (with another month of snuggles to look forward to!). Then I got to sleep in this morning, a little, and my mom picked me up.! W00t! Her Christmas present to me was a day of shopping. We went to several stores (some of which we just looked around, saw the line, and left). She got me a big wheel and a little carrier for the ratties, as well as some nice new shirts and sweaters from Old Navy and a new sketch book for art next semester. We also looked at some stuff for my mom's apartment, and while she got a shirt and a pair of socks, she didn't pick anything up, just looked. We actually came in under budget, I think largely due to the fact that Border's was one of the stores with a crazy long line.
We also stopped at her apartment and I gave Penelope her Xmas present, a little bag of dog treats that were just dried chicken and liver. Mmmmm, she thought they were tasty. I got my mom a little puppy shaped headache herbal eyepack thing, for when she gets migraines and for her recovery from surgery (more on that below). Penelope's face is so white! I couldn't beleive it! And she also has a huuuuuge fatty (non-cancer) tumor on her side, but it doesn't seem to bother her and the risk of surgery is way greater at this point than it is worthwhile. She wagged her tail and was so happy to see me. It made me smile. :)
So, my poor mom is having surgery on the 30th. She apparently had a ninja sinus infection which abcessed into her jaw, so they're going to put her under to do a bone graft, bore out her sinuses, and while they're at it, remove the nodes on her vocal chords and a couple other things. She seems pretty upbeat about the whole thing for now, which is good. Hopefully there are no complications.
The ratties are huge now, by the way! Their body length is about the length of my hand from edge of palm to tip of middle finger. They're still cute, of course, and I will try to get a couple good pictures of them to upload.
Also, I have bangs now. I
look shockingly like
Margaret Mead. It wasn't on purpose, honest! But I kind of like it!
Also, my penultimate semester of college is over. It was a tough slog, but things are getting better and I never have to do *that* again! Next semester should be pretty chill, with fewer classes (sort of), and a hell of a lot less commute time (~9 hours or so a week less, to be precise-ish).
I'm supposed to be going running or something (depending on weather/ mood) with Mel tomorrow, and I'm really looking forward to it. Tomorrow will also be the first day in a couple months that I'll be able to go to yoga. Hooray!
Okay, according to my kitty, I'm sleepy now. That was a long post, and quite tiring. I should go to bed. Good night all!
