Getting back in the habit...

Jul 27, 2008 00:03

I've been wanting to start blogging again, mainly so that I don't have to write a bazillion seperate emails to my friends and they don't have to be up to date on my life unless they want to.

Anyways here is my attempt to start it up again, we'll see how long it lasts once I'm in school, but hey maybe I'll actually have stuff to write about instead of like this past year where I haven't done a whole lot except play games and sleep and pretend to be active in the community (though I guess I actually was so that wouldn't be pretending...)

I'm going to be moving in less then a week! OMG that is kinda scary, exciting, but SCARY. I hope I will get along with my roommate Alice and her dog. I'm still not done getting all of my stuff together. While I have most of my things in a pile, I still need to pack things like clothes and my computer and electronics. I hope there will be enough room for my sumo beanbag, but I guess we'll see. I think it would be comfy to study/ read on. I'll probably end up bringing way more clothes then I need, but I guess I'll want to be kind of fashionable since I'll be in California, relatively close to LA.

I bought a new laptop the other day since they said that it is basically required. The 2nd year student that hosted me when I went for my interview said that it is practically essential. I hope it is cause it cost me some money, but I really needed something better then my 5 year old laptop which has a broken CD drive and less then 20GB of hard drive space, which makes it difficult to fit much of anything. An upgrade was inevitable. The laptop I bought wasn't super fancy, but I figure with 3GB of RAM and 250GB of hard drive space it should do for school work, I'll just make my desktop my gaming bitach and make it do all the hard stuff and leave my laptop for just school stuff and hopefully the laptop will last long enough (ie 3-4 years).

I picked up my new glasses today, they are those interesting transitions that change tint in UV light. Thankfully my eyes haven't changed so I can use my glasses from the last two years as well. Lots of extra glasses, yay!

I had a lovely party today with some of my friends ie Erin, Matt, Lauren, Mari, Rob, Eric, and Kaiser, oh and my brother of course. Erin brought an interesting game called something and taxis. It was basically a trade route building game with points. I won cause I'm awesome... or because Lauren kept reshuffling right before I went and so I had a better batch of cards to pick from... We also played a nifty game of paper telephone where someone writes a sentance and then the next person has to draw a picture of the sentance, then the sentance is folded over so the next person can't see and they have to write a sentance about the picture. It goes on and on until everyone has done it and then you go back and see how the sentances and pictures have changed.

People also got me gifts which was completely unnecessary but much enjoyed. I got Operation from Eric, which is awesome cause I haven't played it in forever. It seems easier then I remember but then I was just a kid the last time I played... Also the buzzer doesn't scare me nearly as much as it did when I was a kid. Mari and Rob got me Emergen-C and bath salts which will be awesome because I totally needed the emergen-C so I won't get too sick and bath salts will be nice for de-stressing. Matt and Lauren got me a set of surgery/doctor playmobile and a gift card. I'm totally going to bring the playmobile down with me and set it up on my desk so I can play with them while I study. Yang also got me a game long distance for my ds, Trauma center 2, which I don't have but have been wanting! so yay! though I don't know when I am going to have time to play. I appreciated all the doctor-y stuff.

I just hope I can survive these next few years, it's a lot of stress and pressure and I hope I can handle it.

I am looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends, which I hope I can do since I haven't really done much of that in last few years... I feel like it is a skill that is out of practice, but I guess the best I can do is be friendly and hope that I find someone that I have common intrests with or at least I get along with so that we can study together. I need to remember that doing simple things like saying hi and introducing myself can be a good first step. I don't really remember it, but when I first met my friend from FIG Sarah we were on the Husky Stadium field meeting with our FIG leader for the first time, who was a weird guy, but anyways I guess I said hi to Sarah and she remembered me because of that.

But I will have to try to remember to live one day at a time and not to get too stressed out, though I also need to remember to plan ahead and stay organized and on top of things. We'll see how much time I have to play games. Not much, but I will like to play a little, I just have to stay on top of everything else.

Signing off for tonight!

party, gifts, school
