Hello. I was browsing around livejournal and pounced upon your lj. Your skin is really nice. Any idea how to edit mine to smtg like yours? Not an avid user of lj so I don't really know much/

Hi. Thank you, I am using one from here barubaron (specifically layout #20 - Night Shifter), and then I messed around with changing the colour codes to suit what I wanted. Also played around a little to add the striped colour bar to the entries, that was done purely by fiddling about until it showed up where I wanted it ...I am by no means a css expert, it's all trial and error to get to the desired result. The images I created myself in photoshop...

How do you use others skin?? 'Cause my account isn't paid for so it's mainly custom made skins? So I cant change mine to others other than the one lj provided. I can change the colours and everything myself cause Im relatively good in doing that but that's in blogger and I just switched to lj so you could say this is a brand new field to me, thus really hard for my to understand.

Most places have instructions with the layouts, but the gist of it is ...in your 'customize journal style' area, go to 'custom css'. That is where the css code goes, from there you can change things.

But I need to select the 'unstyled' option first. :/ And Im not sure where do I go to select that. Went to Select style but it wasn't there.

All you need to do is set your lj to an s2 layout, and for example mine is flexible squares, pick any one. Then go to custom css and paste the code from whatever layout you've chosen (if it's not flexible squares the original post should say what one otherwise). After that the layout post should tell you which things there should say 'yes' or 'no' (there's three drop downs) and that is all there is to it really.
