There I was in the heart of romance, hissing beams of light, and high intrigue in a galaxy far far away when a knock came at my door. I put down my book and answered the door. A strange preteen child dressed in some green paramilitary uniform complete with combat patches adorning her was demanding seven dollars. Afraid for my life, I paid up. With an innocent smile she thanked me then, what seemed like an afterthought, pulled two boxes of Carmel Delight cookies out her bag. I took the cookies, then watched as she walked down the path to her unmarked white van. I locked the door, checked my pants (I was dry), then went to work on my good fortune.
Playing the lottery against the Girl Scout Mafia, I won two boxes of cookies and protection for another year. If only losing the weight these'll cause would be so effortless.
