WashU MultiCulti Wknd, i.e., the last leg of our high school careers

SOBSOBSOB OMG.  this is so hard to grasp.  there is just still...so much to do!  but I am superexcited about college.  sigh, torn.

so my college decision is pretty much settled, not that I was wavering or anything, as D.Lee kindly pointed out, it's not like I have a ton of choices (thank you David for another tactful moment).  but I'm not complaining.  WashU was fabulous where I thought it would be fabulous, shoddy at places, shady in others, and generally...what's the adjective?  oh yeah.  asian.

the best part, obviously, was seeing Ni and Qian and Sally and Cathy and Jia and random Burroughs grads and random non-Burroughs St. Louisians...I swear, there were so many.  apparently my host's neighbor was from Chaminade, Kah's acting teacher's daughter goes to Burroughs, and there was this guy we were dancing with who goes to Central (more about this later) and, yeah.  but it may be just that discovering these people was so shocking that the HUNDREDS OF OTHER ASIANS faded into the background, and by faded, I mean formed a mindless screaming mob fangirling OMG WASHU'S BREAKDANCE SQUAD, In Motion.  and WashU has an asian music association that throws karaoke nights, what?  LOVE

my host, Hannah CC, was pretty cool...she's a psych major that takes Italian, in a sorority but with a 5 on BC Calc, plays club softball and fh...someone whom Alex would generally catagorize as, "hella hott."  and she was.  we didn't exactly see each other much as she was sniffly and I was going through sneezing fits, but we chatted about books (this girl, excellent taste in literature), classes, and music (Laura&Brigid, I am so thankful for your cultural literacy 101 briefings).  mm...apparently I was in the party dorm, so there were half naked girls (the top half), alcohol, and drugs...my host's roomie also did a lot of bar hopping and didn't come home the last night, hm.  a lot of sketchy stuff was rumored to happen, which I believed after seeing people publically smoking weed on campus.  the showers, as a random note, sucked for our dorm at least, so unless I get into a nice modern suite I might spend the next year feeling vaguely unclean, ::sighhh::.

I went to Kah's acting class, a biz school lecture on game theory, and a cognitive studies class, ranked in level of interest.  the last one would be one I would take for my currently tentative major, which, I mean, was a good class but with a rather unfortunate prof.  aka, I will be spending detailed time on www.ratemyprof.com this coming year.  what else?  night life is pretty active, in that no one really sleeps...I returned to my dorm at roughly 12:30 every night to an empty room...but waking up at 10?  best feeling in the world.  I think I can adapt to this campus life fairly easily, which scares me a little since it's so minimally structured...I mean, if I don't do my hw now when there is actually a designated time for me to do so, what'll happen next year?

but that, and finances, are the only aspects which worry me.  the pre-frosh, the freshman, and everyone else were all extremely friendly and sociable.  Like, we're not a particularly exciting class, as Ni and I experienced...the pre-frosh dance cleared out after about half and hour (enough time for people to grab a glo-stick and a bite)...but I mean, the two of us had our own little asian circle going on.  two very gentlemanly guys stuck it out with us until finally, with the four of us left, they started cleaning up as a subtle hint to leave, and as previously mentioned one of the guys turned out to be from Central.  trippy.  of course, all the daring people (aka QIAN) had already snuck off campus by then to party with the college kids, so, w/e.  and we are kind of diverse, if not in ethnicity then in talents...there was the breakdancer from Cincinnati, and Joe who plays cricket, and Charles who glomped us the last night after the dance.  Charles aside, I think we'll be a good class.  WashU '10!

now...last week of high school?  cannot.  believe.  omg.  butbut!  I have overdue labs!  and tests this week, and AP work and Review stuff and and and and and it's just can't be ending so abruptly, can it?  obviously, it can.  the plan is that we begin utilizing LJ to it max potential so we don't lose track of people and we, ourselves, don't get lost in the whirl of change.  relationships, drug addictions, failures and success, I...we...want to hear them all.  I just...I just...oh man.  it's a bit early for goodbyes, isn't it?  so let's enjoy the time we have left because, after all, these are the best days of our lives.

high school, sentimental drivel, college
