#033 - Woot, this made my night! (17/01/2009)
Today was Racing Night again, which I went to even though I also went to Onbeperkt Karten on Sunday, haha. Heat 1 was just warming up and I didn't really do anything spectacular - I thought. My times weren't as good as on my better days of karting, but I still had a 48,4 and beat 3 of the suits (Yay!)! However, during our break this other girl/woman called Linda came over. I only saw her once before and she has a suit, so she's pretty pro I thought. I beat her though, I didn't really understand why until later.
Anyways, on with the story. She said she'd seen me drive and that I was really good and had lots of potential as well. She told me about her own karting, she started in 2003 and drove races for two years, but then the sport got to expensive so she had to quit. Then last December her and another female karter decided to pick things back up -but!- they wanted to set up an all woman team. They didn't manage doing that in time because they couldn't find someone else so they raced with a guy for a while, but they still plan on the womanteam happening.
She then asked whether I was interested in ever coming to train with them sometime and how I thought about perhaps racing with them. =O Only thing is that she couldn't guarantee it would be this year, because the costs were exceptionally high since they haven't got a sponsor yet. I think it would be quite easy to get one once you have an all-woman team, it's the only one in the Netherlands if it happens (true.), so yeah.
I don't know whether it's all going to happen though, but it seems interesting, no?
