#030 - Coronel in Huizen (17/01/2009)
On Saturday I went karting somewhere other than DFE (wow) because of my brothers lasergame party, so I just tagged along. It's a really really bad kart track though. Seriously.
The staff is horrible, they have no idea what they are doing and don't even help a karter when they crash in front of them. I had to point it out for heavens sake. The karts are also bad. They weigh like180 kilos, and the more weight you have the slower you go (although it's only a matter of a couple of thousands of seconds) and you can't really throw them through the corners either. The seats suck as well.. you can't even shift your weight properly. Basically everything was wrong about the kart. As with the suits. They were one size (although they claimed to be XS, S, M, and L - they were all XL) and the helmets were all too big as well.
The track.. I don't know. I'm used to circuit Zandvoort asfalt and compared to that this was awful. So slippery.
I was third in a heat of about twelve people though, not bad for my second time on that track, I like to think. My time was 35,4 and the all time record on that track is 32,7, so I'm pretty happy that I'm still within 3 seconds of the record. The only time I was there before was more than a year ago and also before I actually started karting.
All in all, if you are critical like I am, don't go there. I'm just used to a better track and I race for the times and technique. Everyone else, go there. If you want to 'race' for fun.
