#021 - Motorcross and gravity
http://6th-gear.deviantart.com Has anyone ever done motorcross?
I really want to try it some time; it looks like fun. It's going to be hard though, I think. Especially because shifting your weight in motorcross is the exact opposite of what you do in karting.
Here's a lesson: contrary to what the whole world thinks..
WHEN KARTING: DON'T LEAN INTO THE TURN.
Just let gravity do it's work and lean out of the turn. Unlike what you see these crossers do, because when you ride bikes you DO lean into the turn. So that's going to be hard.
Funny thing is that motorsport appears to be a family trait. Most of the relatives on my dad's side are also obsessed with Formula 1 (even the girls) and they are pro-motorcross people. You probably wouldn't know my niece unless you're into the motorsport world, but she's pretty famous, Nynke de Jong. She was the first female driver in a couple of Championships and was sometimes responsible for over 1/4 of the people in the venue that all came for her. Pretty cool, eh? I never actually knew until two years ago. She's had to race much less though since last year because of a severe accident. She had serious brain damage, didn't know her name anymore, couldn't read or write or talk, but luckily everything's alright again. (You can find a couple of clips on her on youtube and google and stuff, if you're interested)
I still want to try it sometime.
