First off: HAPPY 2009! (And happy holidays too I guess, but I think it's just a bit over-late for that now ;))
I'm depressed (and also very weirdly excited - which has never. happened to me before, during the Christmas hols, at least) to be going back to school tomorrow. Mostly because of this sickening work load. :/ Which did I mention sickens me? But I'll be glad to get back to routine...and this is my last term at school ever! :( (Well, summer term - but that's mostly exams really.)
ANYWAYS (even though right this second I should be cramming as much into on my holiday homework as humanly possible, so that what I present tomorrow isn't as lame as it is right now and will actually pass for a decent attempt at finishing it...)
I just watched new iCarly the episode...
AND OMG I'M JUST A PILE OF STILL-SQUEEEING GOO. I DO NOT NORMALLY REACT THIS WAY TO THINGS. (OKAY, I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING MYSELF WITH THAT BUT WHATEVER.)
iKiss-
The whole episode was so much better than I'd even hoped it would be; it really was perfect. Everything was just in balance so that there was exactly the right amount of squeeage (and epic squeeage it was :D) and just the right amount of humour.
I loved that we saw a really sincere, thoughtful side to Sam. The way she took responsibility for what she'd done, at a big risk to her own pride, was really sweet.
LOL at emo Freddie. I thought it was pretty heart-breaking, but also kind of hilarious (I suppose this will sound sadistic) that he was sitting out there emo-ing it up to the max - and even funnier when I looked up the lyrics to the song in the background and found out that the album name was 'Troubled Times.' :D
But seriously, this whole scene was so well written. The script was perfect - so natural sounding. And I love that it really showed that, despite their constant bickering, Sam and Freddie really do have their own, important bond withing the trio. The whole scene was so poignant and touching and fluffy, and I'm goo again. <3
I loved Freddie originally having the idea of the two of kissing, but being to scared to tell - and then Sam spitting it out for him.
I loved the awkwardness and the fact that they both didn't have a clue how to proceed after the suggestion.
But omg my favourite part - 'well that was...nice.' 'Yeah, good work!..' I simultaneously laughed and melted at that point, which was tricky but hey, I'm still alive.
And then the 'Hey - I hate you.' OMG I DIED. THERE IS SO MUCH TO BE SAID FOR THIS LINE. IT WAS LIKE 'I LIKE YOU', 'THANKS', 'DON'T TELL', AND 'ANY TIME' ALL IN ONE. OR I LIKE TO THINK IT WAS, WHATEVER.
<3 <3 <3
One thing I did notice was that when Carly was talking about her first kiss, Freddie didn't seem to get jealous like I thought he would. Maybe he's starting to get over his crush? Maybe, yes/no?? I'm not saying he is, because I know it's a big part of his character - but considering the contents of the episode...
Outside of the awesome Seddie (which if I'm not careful I'll start shipping with some degree of seriousness), the episode was as lulzy as ever. Continuation with shirtless!Gibby made me laugh.$ That kid os so hilarious. And weird. And Spencer, I love you. (What more needs be said on this?) <3 And what was with the foot Carly was apparently so amused at on the computer at the start? So random...which is what I love about iCarly!
All in all: best iCarly episode ever. EVER. ICARLY PWNS UR KID'S SHOWZ, IT DOES. :D
Also, before I hop off in a frenzy to do some more homework -
I saw Twilight. A couple of week ago actually, so it's not that fresh in my mind.
Anyway, as much as I might like to complain about the books; the film. Honestly?
I really, really liked it.
I think a lot of that was accredited to the fact that the Edward/Bella seemed much less...twisted and over-the-top sickening as it did in writing.
But yeah. I liked the strange quietness of the film. One thing I remember was that I thought it was extraordinarily cool when 'Supermassive Black Hole' by Muse was played during the baseball scene. I'd never have thought it would have went with the film, but it did.
Uh, that's about all I can remember? That, and that I liked Bella a whole lot more in the movie, and it let me see what others see in her in the books. Which was weird because there wasn't much difference between the two in terms of...well, everything, really. If only every movie-from-book could be as faithful to the original work as that.
Also, my friend has recently started reading Twilight. She started fangirling Jacob and has apparently joined the Eward/Bella camp of her own initiative.
I also like that she thinks a lot of the stuff in the books are as ridiculous and cringe-inducing as I do. But we both agree they're okay reads, so it's all good (and not too much ranting!)
Uh,on a final note (honestly!...Just don't want to quit procrastinating quite yet.) We also went to see the movie 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' over the holidays. It looked like a flop movie, so it was a random choice we made because half of us had gone off to see Twilight and we couldn't decide in anything else. And I don't normally like sci-fi - but this was actually really, really enjoyable.
Keanu Reeves has never looked so good.
