Thoughts on Psychology

I wound up getting into a conversation about psychology in regards to this article. One of the other people didn't like the fact that it made it seem like ...

"women seem completely unable to use their BRAIN to make the decisions and instead we are completely subject to our hormones and primitive inclinations."

I sort of defended psychology with a little analogy:

That's actually one of the problems I have with psychology in general. It describes the tendencies of people as a whole, but in my opinion doesn't describe individuals.

"People" as a whole might get caught in traffic jams. An individual might leave early to avoid rush hour, or alter their work schedule to help avoid the traffic, or make a jetpack in their garage. I'm sure that you, and women, and people in general are more than capable of making intelligent decisions above and beyond the call of our primal instincts.

It's important to note though, that there are still traffic jams.

I'm curious to know what others think. In the past, I've actually been a little critical of the science of psychology myself in the past, so it's a little weird supporting it.
