(no subject)
So as far as I can tell, they let another person go from work today. We are down to 23 from 30. I think we had 25 when I started here 4+ years ago.
Alternately on the work front, the company celebrated its 10-year anniversary on 3/1 so we are all going OUT to lunch today at BJ's Brewhouse in Cupertino at 2pm. Not only do we get lunch, but the bosses are not requiring us to return to the office after lunch but we still get paid for 8 hours work.
Gaskells was a lot of fun but the ballroom was so hot I could barely be in there. My costume didn't breathe well and just standing made me overheat. I was a-glow the entire night and spent a good chunk of my time in the foyer. I didn't go to afters because of the rain. I got home just as it started raining and got the car in the garage just in time.
EM has been sick and she coughs a lot and sounds terrible, but she insists she is feeling better. She looked better this morning - not so wiped out and tired.
Tonight is FNW and tomorrow is the PEERS Sting Swing Ball. I won't be eating out before dance tonight (leftovers for dinner instead - yum!) and won't be taking the classes. I plan to save my $4 for a sundae at afters.
Also, I finally made an appointment to get my hair cut. My hair person is in Livermore, so I will go get my hair done, then head to my sister's to spend the day with her at her house out in Mountain House. I may crash there - depends on what we end up doing (if we end up drinking). So the hair appt is for Sat 4/18 - way in advance, I know, but it was the first weekend I have free.
As for my birthday, I am planning just dinner before the Saturday FNW on 3/28 for whomever wants to join me. Location still TBD. If anyone can suggest a place to eat nearby the FNW Oakland location, that'd be great.
I just got a text from my coworker Kirsten. She's been out on maternity leave for 5 weeks now and "her majesty "(the baby) still is failing to make her appearance. Looks like they are inducing Kirsten today due to low fluid levels. I hope everything goes smoothly for them.
I've decided to try to make my costume for Dickens this year so I am starting the planning now so that I have enough time to make some mistakes along the way.... Making a Victorian dress will be a first and definitely a new challenge. Right now, I am just in the planning stages... picking a pattern, colors, textiles. Any suggestions on color for me?
