In your own way

I am definitely planning a stay-in-and-do-quiet-things type of weekend.  Despite needing an unsocial weekend to get my introverted bearings back, it is also cost effective to stay in.  I am out of money and it sucks.

Today begins a series of family birthdays that all fall very close together.  July makes be broke about the same way that Christmas makes me broke.  I need to remember to call my stepmom today and wish her a happy birthday.  I also need to mail the cards for my youngest siblings today.

Kirsten, my friend and coworker, made me toffee chip cookies last night from scratch.  She's so sweet.  I was thinking of baking cookies myself but didn't have the ingredients and didn't feel like going to the grocery store when I will be going there on Friday once I get paid so I can pick up food.

The City of Sunnyvale is doing utility work on the street in front of the office building where I work.  They are breaking up the sidewalks and cutting into the asphalt of the street.  I am so tired of the constant grinding and rattling and jackhammering noises.  It makes me feel like my brain is rattling loose while I am at work.  I get home and my ears are ringing in the quiet.

My mom was supposed to leave for Scotland today but because my stepdad injured himself and suffered nerve damage when the latter he was on slipped out from under him, they had to cancel the trip.  He's still recovering and the recovery will be slow, and meanwhile he's doped up on painkillers.  My mom is pretty bummed and I don't blame her. I hope they can go next summer.  I would REALLY love to go with them.
