Not that there was much doubt that UT wouldn't win over Rice, but still. First win of the season! Next week: BYU. A much more difficult game. It sounded like things worked pretty well out there today, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
I finally was able to get the game on the radio after having to do that thing where you walk with your radio and your arms out manuvering the antenna all around until you finally hit the signal. The station is buried in the space between two of the most powerful stations in the Houston area, and so I was having a lot of difficulty getting a clear signal. I was seriously afraid for a minute that I was going to have to stand with my arm out for the whole 4.5 hours. I was so cranky about the inability to listen to the game at the beginning that I unintentionally bit Sis's head off. I've since apologized, but still.
Hopefully either the LHN will figure out how to get the main providers to WANT to carry the network, or the carriers will finally figure out that there's enough demand that it's worth carrying the network.
Also: I heard an ad for Texas Longhorns Energy. Yep. UT has its own energy providing service now (because most places in Texas are unregulated with regard to energy companies). For each customer it has, TLE will donate money to UT athletics. You would think with all of this stuff that UT was hurting for money. Which is totally not the case. I don't get it.
