College football. Ohio State lost to Wisconsin last night, so OSU has fallen from the #1 spot in the college polls!! YAY! Oregon is now #1. Go Ducks. Texas is back in the rankings (both the AP and Coaches polls) at #22. At least we're back in the top 25. I was really upset about being such losers last week. However, there is an issue: Oklahoma is at #3. This is NOT OKAY. However, they play Mizzou next Saturday, I'm hoping very hard that they'll fall to the Tigers.
NFL: The Saints won their game against Tampa. It was airing on Fox, but for some dumbass reason, it wasn't airing in Houston. We were being treated to multiple episodes of Cops. LAME. Naturally, ABC was airing the Chiefs vs Texans game. It was really quite spectacular in the second half... Texans down 10, then down 3, then down 10 again, then down 3, then up 4, then WIN! So awesome. I was yelling quietly cheering them on. (I have had to refrain from automatically adding a hashtag several times in this paragraph. Thanks for ruining my ability to type like a normal person, Twitter.) I'm watching the Dallas vs Minnesota game. Since I'm a Houston fan, I am rather apathetic about the Cowboys. My Mom thinks I'm nuts because the Cowboys are, like, TEXAS'S TEAM. I don't know why, but I just don't get excited about Romo and the 'Boys. But, since it is Texas's team, I'm watching. I'm feeling sorry for Brett Fah-vrah spending yet another season getting pounded into the dirt on almost every play. That's gotta suck as a 41-year-old. However, if the allegations about the sexting are true, I will feel no more sympathy and root for his ass to get kicked. As y'all know, I am so never okay with sexual harassment. One big complaint: since I have a 13" Emerson TV bought back in 1989, and the game is broadcast in high-def widescreen, I can't see the damn score. ANNOYING. Hopefully, Mom can get me a new TV for Christmas and then I won't have that problem any more.
Kittens! Since every time one of us goes into the bathroom the kitties start climbing our legs, Mom decided that the scratching post that Meg and Bob didn't really use in her room should go upstairs. It was hilarious as I set it down on the floor near the kitties. AJ and Lili immediately launched themselves at the carpet-covered tower (it's about 18" tall and 4" wide with a 1'x1' base, all covered in carpet, with a cluster of feathers on a string sticking out of the top). Literally LAUNCHED themselves with all four feet spread out so they could instantly grip the post. It was so cute. AJ ran straight to the top and claimed it for himself. I was very impressed that our biggest kitten could balance on such a tiny spot. They were all on and around it, batting at each other and fighting for the pinnacle. They were so entranced that they didn't even stop to eat when I poured out their dinner. Bandit was intrigued, but settled for being petted a lot. I noticed this morning when I went in that the tower had moved into the other side of the bathroom - about 6' away from its previous spot - and had been tipped over. One too many enthusiastic kitties, I guess. I discovered something else this morning. Monsieur is a jerk when it comes to eating. He'll stand on the plate to cover most of the food with his body, and when someone else tries to get in there, he'll swipe and growl at them! Jerk. He even swiped at Elise. Poor girl. I felt so bad for her. I tried to get her to see that there was food up on the counter for her, but she was too upset. I'm thinking that Monsieur is going to need to be a solo guy, or just live with Brie, because they seem to get along just fine. They're both snooty French kitties, so it works. (Don't ask me where I got the name Monsieur for this kitten. It just fit. I think it was his mustache. I can now picture him sitting at a cafe table smoking saying, "My ass is twitching. You kitties make my ass twich." A la French Kiss.)
About an hour ago my body decided that it was going to be made of fail. Migraine, back spasm, etc. Dammit Body. WHHYYYY?!?!?!? *fistshake* Ow. I'm starting to think I need a new head/neck MRI. Something's going wrong in there somewhere. I'm wondering about a Chiari malformation (where part of your brain gets squeezed out the space at the base of your skull where your spinal chord attaches, which it's not supposed to do). It could also just be a fibromyalgia flare. Gotta love it. OH! Please send positive thoughts/prayers/etc. my way this week. Social Security's supposed to get back to me with a yay/nay decision on my claim by the 26th. I really need the money and insurance that an approved claim should bring. All the positive vibes I can get will be much appreciated.
