Goings on

So, as my tiny mobile post mentioned this past week, I had a nasty accident Friday before last. Basically, I was walking up the stairs back to my room when I got dizzy and half-fainted backwards, ending up flat on my back on the landing. My whole spine, particularly my tailbone and neck, are in owwie land. At least I was only two stairs up from the landing when I fell. Otherwise, I'd have been in serious trouble. Naturally, no one else was in the house at the time. As my neck was tilted at a god-awful angle over the side of the step, we had the paramedics come in, put me in a c-collar and backboard to take me to the ER. Those poor guys had to maneuver me down the stairs. At one point, one of them balanced me on the backboard ON HIS KNEE while he and his partner duct-taped me to the board. I spent 2 hours in the ER being irradiated like crazy by the worst x-ray tech I've ever met. She just couldn't seem to get a clear shot of ANYTHING and had to repeat stuff over and over again. And, naturally, these were the antiquated film kind, not the new digital so I'm surprised I didn't glow. She had NO sense of humor, nor understood sarcasm, either. Very strange. The nurse was an asshole who acted like I was intruding on his lovely relaxing time. I'm finally feeling better, though... my neck's still ultra-stiff, but since I basically have whiplash, I'm expecting that to last a while. Thanks to all of y'all who commented and sent me well wishes and pillows and Soft!hugs. Very much appreciated.

Bandit got loose as Mom and I tried to expand the girls' cage to double the size Thursday night. Elise was SO PISSED that Bandit ran, and so yelled until Bandit came back. As she prowled around the edge of the yard exploring, Elise would yell if Bandit moved out of her visual range, causing Bandit to come running back to prove she hadn't left. Bandit slept just outside the cage to be close to her sister. Elise would smack her in the face every chance she got, like she was saying, "You left me! Stupid cat!" I almost succeeded in catching Bandit by hand Friday afternoon, though that ended with four giant cat scratches to my left hand/wrist and a completely scared kitty. Mom brought the have-a-heart trap home after borrowing it from work (the trap she originally caught the girls in at her clinic), so we could nab Bandit. It worked, and Elise was thrilled to have her sister back, and Bandit doesn't seem to upset to be back in the enclosure. Now, instead of a 3'x3' cube, they have a 6'x3' space that they LOVE. We gave them one of those cheap pop-up cubes to have as a little house, and Elise has adopted that as her little hidey space. At last glance, they were stretched out spooning each other staying cool under the fan. So adorable. I'm so glad they're both back and alright.

Mom's been completely stressed this past week over Sis and her car insurance. See, Sis is the worst driver IN THE WORLD. The last three years she's had 8 accidents. Mainly these were due to her being over-medicated and malnourished (due to her still being anorexic). Now she's got her meds under control and is eating like a normal person, so she's a lot better behind the wheel. She still has a crap sense of spacial orientation, however, and thus misjudges a lot of situations. What she needs is a VW Beetle or something similar that's basically a tiny box to allow her to feel her surroundings a bit more. Yesterday, as I walked into Mom's room to get to the medical supplies in the bathroom to clean out my giant cat scratches, Mom was waving me off like a crazy woman. I silently cleaned up and walked back out as she finished the call. She was so stressed after the conversation with the insurance company that she actually said, "I'm sorry, I couldn't tell the woman on the phone that I needed to get off so I could fix my 30-year-old daughter's booboo." Thank God for all of my therapy, because I was able to let that just roll off of me with the knowledge that it actually had nothing to do with me personally, and was just Mom acting out her frustration. A year ago I would have totally fought back at the outrageousness of her comment. Yesterday I almost laughed at the outrageousness... however, that would have been a bad idea as well. At least it's mostly settled now, though Mom is completely stressed about our monetary situation since Sis is unable to be insured for less than $175/month due to her history. (And they say that I'm a bad driver. Hah!)

That's about all, right now. I'm just chillin' and sleeping a ton. One of my new meds is technically one for blood pressure (even though I'm using it for migraine prevention/stress prevention), and my now lower BP and heart rate makes me completely fatigued at all times. Once I see Dr. Hall on the 3rd, hopefully we can adjust it so I'm still getting the benefits without the utter drowsiness, since that part's dangerous behind the wheel - and walking up stairs, obviously.

*yawn* I want more rain/thunderstorms. That'd be lovely.

Oh! One final thing: This made me laugh hysterically.
