Let's play another round of "good news/bad news"

Sep 17, 2009 13:50

Bad: I slept only about 3 hours last night.
Good: I am now 3/4 of the way through The Lost Symbol. I got the book for Mom, but since she is a book black hole - she plans to read them, doesn't have the time, and then they disappear mysteriously - I'm speeding through it before her birthday. If there's enough time, Sis is also planning to read it before then.

Bad: I spent an hour in rush hour traffic (which in Houston is more like rush hourS, where you have about 45 minutes between the morning, lunch, and evening rushes). I then spent hours waiting to see the rheumatologist.
Good: The rheumatology resident was super sweet and was a good listener. Her attending was very knowledgeable and was definitely open to listening to my views on what to do medication-wise. Finally, a county hospital attending that's NICE. They also both told me, "Yep, you're right, you have fibromyalgia." So I finally have the official diagnosis! Also good, we're finally going to get me switched over from neurontin to lyrica. Now to either get the county or the drug company to pay for it.

Bad: I'm still sore from where the docs had to press to check to see if I had the characteristic tender points (I was 18 for 18). There were several spots - especially in my neck and sternum - that felt like the guy was sticking me with knives instead of pressing with his fingers.
Good: I can rest this afternoon and basically until Tuesday, when I have my next round of appointments. Whew. This has been quite a week.

Bad: I'm starting to think in the format of status updates for Facebook - basically, short descriptions of my life referring to myself in the third-person.
Good: I've connected with some of my really good friends from high school that I haven't seen in a decade. It also is allowing me to keep up-to-date in my friends' and family's lives.

Bad: The decision to kick off the girl they did on ANTM.
Good: That ANTM is showing again.

I'm going to stop now and go take a nap.
