I'm back in Austin. Mom and Sis are still in St. Louis, and will be for another several weeks, maybe until Christmas. Yikes. Lonely time for me. Thank God Heather's in town and inviting me to her family's Thanksgiving Day festivities (this includes watching the Texas/Texas A&M game Friday morning). She's so good to me. I'll be spending my birthday and Christmas up in the Lou'. Which is going to be interesting. Snow for my birthday would be novel.
Anyway, things have been difficult here on the home front. My kitty who was sick, Claude, was REALLY sick when I got back into town. I tried to take care of him all week, and finally Mom, the vet, and I decided it was best to let him go. So I had to be there as we put him to sleep. One of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I happened to need to go to the animal hospital where Shadow had been since our actual vet was leaving town. It turned out that the doctor who was there for Shadow at the end was there. So she was the one that coached me through the process and helped Claude. I'll put up pictures later.
On top of that, Dad and the SheBitch are being nasty... but what's new.
Last, but not least, I've caught a cold. Yay for upper respiratory viruses! I'm already on Levaquin, so hopefully I won't get some kind of secondary infection like always. Being totally sick for Thanksgiving would suck. I've already missed going to see Happy Feet with Heather and her friend Sara today. Don't want to get Sara sick.
Okay. Enough bitching. My early Christmas present from Heather? Her old laptop. Which isn't THAT old. And certainly a HELL of a lot better than the one I have currently. Mine: from 1999, is a Pentium 4 500, with 256 MB of RAM. Also weighs about 10 lbs. This one: from only a couple of years ago, Pentium M 1.6 GHz, 496 MB of RAM. Maybe weighs four or five lbs. Much better. Only drawback is that it's one of the smaller ones with the tinier keyboard. It's taking me a while to get used to where the shift/period/control buttons are. But I'm getting there. I love it. So much better. And much more portable. Now I can take it places and on airplanes when I travel, etc. Which I'll be doing a lot of this spring. So, woo!
I'm going to lie back down now. Happy thanksgiving, y'all.
