YES!

Two things that made me happy about the NFL draft this year:

1) Reggie Bush, the running back who won the Heisman trophy instead of Vince, wasn't drafted first. In fact, Mario Williams, a defense guy from NC State, was drafted sometime earlier than when the draft opened this morning Radio City Music Hall in New York. That makes me happy. Bush did go second to NOLA, and he better do well by them, by God (though you can tell he's not too happy about it - check out the look on his face in this picture).

2) Vince went to Tennessee, as expected, within the first thirty minutes of the start of the proceedings. He had his momma, his two sisters, his two grammas, and his uncles with him. It was so sweet. When he got up after they announced him, his kissed and hugged all of them before going and grabbing his new jersey and walking out on stage. Then, after the required pictures of him with the football commissioner and the new jersey, his family came out on stage wearing Titans hats. One of his grandmothers had the hat on crooked. It was cute.

Poor Matt Leinart (the quarterback that played for USC that lost to UT in the Rose Bowl in January. Also a Heisman winner.). With every pick that wasn't him, his face fell. He kept looking more and more depressed until Arizona picked him at 10th. I feel kinda bad for him. But only kinda.

OOH! Just thought of something. It's a good thing that Reggie wasn't drafted to the Texans because that means I can still root for them out in the open. Had they taken him, I would have had to super-secretly followed them, and certainly not rooted for them, particularly if they were actually using him in games. Now, I don't have to worry about that at all. Whew.

I just realized how into football I am for a girl. I woke up early on a Saturday, of my own volition (like, not annoyed into it by boyfriend as in previous years), to watch the NFL draft. You won't meet many women who'll do that, I'd bet.

ETA: Forgot to mention that one of our other guys, Michael Huff, was taken by Oakland! So I'll be watching them, too.
