Yesterday, the Astros had a nice shut-out 10-0 against the Diamondbacks. Today, no shut-out, but damn what a game.
Nothing for the first five innings. I mean NOTHING. One measly run. The DBacks were actually leading. I was appalled. Then came the 6th. And holy shit! 7 freakin' runs! 10 at bats! It was INSANE. Lane was walked. Then Chris Burke singled sending Lane to third. Then Burke stole second (I swear, this guy is like the Astros'
Willy Mays Hayes). Two guys out. But then Lamb was intentionally walked, loading the bases. My man Willy Taveras (he played for the Express before being brought up) singled to the left, allowing Lane and Burke to score and sending Lamb to second. Then Orlando Palmeiro was hit by a pitch moving Lamb to third and Taveras to second. Lance Berkman made an infield single to second, Lamb and Taveras scored, and Palmeiro went to third. Morgan Ensberg homered to left (went into the bullpen just inside of the foul pole), causing Palmiero and Berkman to also come home.
God, it was gorgeous.
ETA 1: Has anyone seen Craig Counsell of the Dbacks at bat? This man has the largest strike zone EVAR. Long lanky guy standing almost straight up with his right leg daintily pointed and resting slightly on the ground (he's a lefty). It's just silly looking. And yet he can pull around enough to put a ball almost out of the park. It's odd, but it seems to work for him.
ETA 2: Astros 8 - Dbacks 5 (They rallied a little in the 9th. But not enough!!) Now the 'Stros go back home to face the Brewers, and Pirates, and Dodgers. Oh, my!
