A code red is in effect for Anne Arundel County Public Schools today, which means everyone's off! And it was a smart call... it is extremely icy outside. Hooray for my first snow day as a teacher! This week is so fake:
Monday: Two-hour early dismissal, meeting with music resource teacher (NOT fake--extremely helpful)
Tuesday: Inservice day with two hour meeting; we were allowed to leave at 12:30 because of the snow
Wednesday: Schools closed due to inclement weather
Plans (as of now) for the remainder of the week:
Thursday: Inservice day which was scheduled for today; no meetings or duties
Friday: Teaching at Marley for about 90 minutes :)
So today I've done a lot of nothing, of course. I have been practicing a lot of piano lately, though, learning "Waterfall":

I can play it about half that speed, and I mess up quite a bit still... but I'm learning it much more quickly than I thought I would. I can just about play it from memory, and I can now do all of those crazy hand crossing tricks without stopping or messing up! I'm glad I got that piano solos book because I hadn't been playing nearly as much as I wanted. One of my goals this year was to practice piano at least thirty minutes a day for a whole month, and I'm well on my way to accomplishing that. And "Waterfall" was a must-learn. So what if my other resolutions are being forgotten already? :)
So the rest of the day I'm going to be planning lessons, playing more piano, and watching movies. I don't know about going to taekwondo tonight because of my stupid nasty ugly horrible cold... and the weather. I don't want to drag my sister out in icy conditions. As far as the cold goes, I'm lucky to have been so healthy this school year. This is only my third or fourth cold, and the first since October or so. I haven't missed any work due to illness. I've also had the flu pass over me so far, which I think is only fair since I got it twice last winter. (KNOCK ON WOOD) I think my healthier diet has helped tremendously.
Speaking of food, it's sangwich and laundry time. :)
