Nine is a larger number.

I have 6 on my computer. 9 has about six different applications, and the photoshop itself is much more indepth.

CS stands for "Creative Suite", I think. It's not just photoshop, but a lot of photoshopping applications.

Photoshop CS2 is just the Photoshop/ImageReady component of Creative Suite. Creative Suite includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge (bridges the different apps) and Cue (doc info tool) ... Premium also has GoLive and Acrobat Pro.
