cooper union requires you to answer 6 questions via drawing for their home test. it was the only college application that actually required any thought on my part.
so i put off doing it til about three days before it was due so i had to spend the beginning of my vacation drawpainting my butt off. i got it done in time, but in addition to the test, they require you send in at least five actual drawings, and my portfolio with everything i've ever done was safely, but inconveniently, locked in school for the duration of the vacation, so i'm pretty much guaranteed to be rejected because i forgot to get a teacher recommendation, too. it doesn't really bother me though cause i was just concerned with making myself do the home test and even if i had everything my chances of getting accepted were 50 out of 2,000something.
1. A composition of three unrelated objects in an unexpected juxtaposition.
i don't like this one at alllll.
2. A full figure self portrait defined by markings of experiences/events.
as cheesey as it is, i used bunnays as a metaphor for myself because i seriously couldn't think of any way to do this without it being wickedly cliche. haha my actual blood is on this causei had this little cut on the side of my hand that i didn't think was actually bleeding and instead thought it was paint.
3. A space as seen from the inside of a machine.
i did a view from the inside of a monitor and based it on the idea that computers merely see a reflection of themselves.
4. A sequence or series of images defining the boundary between subject and object.
it was really hard to think of something for this one and initially i had absolutely no idea what the question was asking. soon i'm definitely gonna pull a home alone and line these bad larries up and shoot them down with rubber bands.
5. Toxicity.
not sure if this really is toxicity or not, but some girls can end up being poison.
6. Design a currency based on a global perspective.
based on the whole "money is the root of all evil" thing. this made me realize exactly how badly i need to buy myself an exacto knife because cutting out curves like that with scissors SUCKS.
finishing this was one of the best feelings evvarrr. but i can't say the same thing about paying 17 bucks to overnight it.
