As Christ's love washed over the planet, the fighters dropped
their weapons and cried, and the chief was sent to hell. As it happened,
just shy of two thousand years ago, and the same number of light years away,
on a small blue ball known as the Earth, a man, and also more than a man,
had ascended to heaven, not with a host of angels in a golden glow, but
in a great explosion of sound, and light, and love.

It was just such love that descended on them. To Jamie, the tormented Buddhist,
it gave the gift of knowledge of the one, true faith, and a chance at reconciliation
with his father. Both of them. To Pete, the outcast, it granted perfect vision and better
posture, along with the confidence to live the life he had always wanted. Chase, the
robot, was given a metallic replica of the human heart, finally putting him at peace with
the strange emotions that had beset him. Our captain, Gregory, received everything he
could possibly want: the chance to see his son and wife again. Peter and Odongo stood together
happily, as the other three travelers vanished into the light, sending them home.
Jamie was reunited with his estranged father and Greg with his worried family. Chase,
meanwhile, set out to travel the world and discover, more than any man, what the true
meaning of love was. The Supernova of Christ had put everything to right, and across the
universe, song erupted as it passed, as it had for two thousand years.
Everything would be just fine. Greg's son died peacefully in his arms the next morning.
