Has anybody noticed how many special days are in March?
Wednesday
psychic_skitty had "Pi Day", which was really celebrated in geometry class yesterday. (Well, see, they're doing "block scheduling" where they have half their classes each day. Apparently it works.) The students got extra credit for bringing pies to class. Or so I'm told...
Yesterday was more my day. Thinking back, when I dropped Evan off at school I should have been dressed as an Oracle while singing _Vehicle_. Don't worry... most people I mentioned it to didn't get it. Instead, I just walked up to people and told them to "Beware the Ides of March..." You can blame my fascination with _that_ on my high school English teachers. Believe me, it was the only thing of Shakespeare that stuck. Unfortunately, unlike Warren and Sophia (
Dance of a Lifetime), my teachers never tried to make it interesting. We got bogged down in the language, while completely missing the message. Besides, what would a bunch of farm kids from Indiana need with literature? I'm much more interested in it now than I ever was back then. And I won't even blame Frank for it. ;-)
Tomorrow, while a good day to celebrate, is where I realize my Irish and German roots are less strong than I thought. See, I can barely tolerate beer... and I find the aftertaste almost as bad as that of artificial sweeteners. And I hate cabbage... I can, however, deal with corned beef.
And is it just me, or is Ostara early this year? The wall calendar (from the bank) says it's Wednesday the 21st, while Llewellyn's says it's Tuesday the 20th. I always thought the equinox was nearer the 23rd.
Still, it's too early to be up. Last year I got used to the silly time change in November. We'll see how long it takes this year.
And it's time to get the kids up and off to school. In the dark.
