I'm trying something new with rants, a little show and tell going on with things I find annoying or have problems with. Mostly I talk about positive things so I thought maybe doing the opposite would be interesting for a change. Since I the DVD came out this week, I thought the first edition would cover the latest Transformers movie.

WWW #1 - Sam's Sliver
So Sam finds a sliver of the All Spark that had been stuck to his old jacket, and instead of informing Bumblebee or later on Optimus, he instead tells Bumblebee he should go away since he can't take him to college and that he's a normal guy in college now and is exasperated that Optimus can't leave him alone. "It's not my fight." It's been 2 years, and it doesn't seem like he's had to be involved in any of the operations the Autobots have had with the government so I'm totally thrown by the idiocy of Sam.
WWW #2 - We Are the World
Okay, I realize this is an american film, created for american audiences, but I still think it's pretty arrogant to have the US Government have such a powerful hold on the Autobots. Able to evict them from Earth? I didn't realize they had jurisdiction past its borders. I understand the harsh treatment was most likely to place the liason as the human "villain" who didn't understand what was going on but still wanted to control. I found it funny.
WWW #3 - The Green Movement
Sam's parents drop him off at college and his mom buys pot brownies and quickly devolves into wacky situations: talking about Sam losing his virginity, pointing out his dorm room to girls, tackling a guy playing frisbee. Did it add anything to the movie? Not really.
WWW #4 - One ... Two ... Three?
This was one of the more confusing moments in the movie. During the opening operation, a character calls out "Arcee Twins!" Yet there are three bikes. I remember the credits mentioning a Wheelie as well, which might explain the third but they never really explain it. I still love that they brought Arcee into this version of TF as she was one of my favorite characters from the G1 movie and series.
WWW #5 - All Your Spark Belong to Us
I never understood this. The autobots had a remaining piece of the AllSpark (probably what Optimus pulled out of Megatron) and they hand it over to the US Government to protect? Isn't the fact that they've been able to hide on Earth with relative ease seem to indicate that the piece would be better protected in their hands than in a government facility that can easily be found and invaded by the Decepticons?
WWW #6 - Beat Down
Okay, this wasn't as bad as the first movie where Optimus was manhandled for the most part in his "showdown" with Megatron. In this one he held his own for a lot of it, but it seems to be a trend for Optimus to get pummeled. They really like to portray that underdog role for the leader of the Autobots for some reason.
That said, it's an enjoyable movie and I'm hoping a third one is on the way. Now it's time for me to see if I feel like doing another post like this again. I don't know if there is a point to this besides making myself take screen shots and take notes during the movie but whatever. It's late. lol. Later!
