TV Update

It's been three weeks since I mentioned my mission to catch up on some tv shows and I thought I'd catch everyone up with how it's going.

First off, I ended up dropping Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chonicles after watching 4 episodes. The reason mostly because I didn't care for how John and Sarah were acting towards their terminator protector in regards to what they said about/to her and how they treated her. It also felt unbelievable that she'd act so much more robotic now that we knew she was a machine unlike when she was portraying a high school girl that was trying to befriend John.

Iron Man: Armored Adventures finally returned to new episodes last week and I missed it! This show is nearly impossible to find online. D: Thankfully I was able to catch both last week and this week's episode tonight and they were soo good. While I'm always a fan of the Tony/Pepper dynamic (and I love her enthusiasm in this show), I have to say I'm growing fond of the Tony/Whitney Stane chemistry and then the surprise when she becomes Madame Masque in this week's episode - total fanfic fluff ideas there.

Eight episodes into Merlin and I'd say I've grown attached to a few of the characters and am interested in shipping Arthur/Morgana however wrong that might be in different interpretations. I'm hoping we get more insight into Morgana's abilities and if she finds out about Merlin. I must say I'm baffled by the Great Dragon and its' purpose in the show. Seems to only give cryptic hints to what must be done but is stuck chained in a cavern for some reason. I must say that I got chills in the last episode when Merlin decided to save the young druid and found out the boy's name, Mordred. So clearly Merlin is to blame for everything. :P

Through nine episodes of Chuck, and I have to say this might be the one show where I find the supporting characters to be funnier than the main one. I adore the ups and downs between Chuck and Sarah (not to mention the big surprise at the end of episode nine which should bring more drama), but I find myself every week looking forward more to an appearance from Captain Awesome, or what strange thing Casey or Gordon does. That whole deal with Gordon and Anna in Chuck vs the Imported Hard Salami was hilarious. And I find myself fascinated with Bryce, especially after what we learned in vs the Alma Mater about saving Chuck by getting him expelled.

I was happy to announce earlier this week on twitter that I finally finished watching the first season of Spectacular Spider-Man! And the show has been outstanding save for a few nitpicks I'll get into shortly. First the positives. I liked how they integrated Eddie Brock into Peter's life and how their parents had died together and they'd pretty much been friends/bros growing up. I liked the use of Harry getting addicted to goblin formula and even being the first Green Goblin in this incarnation. I liked the origins/creations of Sandman, Vulture, Electro, Dr. Octopus, Shocker, The Lizard, Rhino - had no problems with any of that (also I love how Electro's busting them out of prison was similar to the start of the New Avengers comic I think). I liked Gwen and Mary Jane characterizations a lot in this season, especially MJ's casual attitude (It was funny how Peter kept trying to avoid Anna Watson's niece for the first few episodes and then lucked out as her date to the dance). I also like that Peter showed interest in Betty Brant (Aunt May running interference there), the way Black Cat had him wrapped around her finger, and that even Liz has shown to care for "Petey".

Now for the annoying things so far: I haven't liked how Gwen has pretty much gotten the shaft the second half of the season. Outside of the last episode where Venom takes her hostage at the parade and she kisses Peter, well she was pretty much tiny role since around the time MJ was introduced (but not that MJ took her time either, it was just Peter was gone and then the whole symbiote issue) - still not enough Gwen. The next problem would be with just how quickly Eddie Brock turned on his "bro" in the latter half of the season, it was like a snowball down a mountain - built up real fast. For what seems to have been a lifelong friendship, there really didn't seem to be any hesitance to assume Peter was in it for himself and not let him explain. I can understand Peter needing to protect his identity, but it just seemed very fast for Eddie to suddenly turn into lets hurt MJ to hurt Peter - and that was before the symbiote was on him. Peter seems to be awfully clueless about things, especially concerning his friends or aunt, and preoccupied with being Spider-Man. He seemed to have reached a new sense of assuredness in regards to his abilities in the finale (dumping the dna cleanser) and I'm hoping it will extend to his non-crimefighting parts of life as well. Can't wait to start Season 2 next week. I have fics to read and maybe even ones to write myself! (Also I might try to go to the Gathering of the Gargoyles that is happening at the end of August where a lot of Spectacular Spidey people will be too because many of the same people worked on both.)

I've watched fourteen episodes of Star Wars: Clone Wars and this show is so damn good. Each story is well crafted and they don't just focus on Obi-Wan & Anakin, they get around and truly build the universe and the characters of the franchise. The humor in the series is better executed here than in the movies when it comes to the droid army and Jar Jar Binks. They created a character out of nowhere in Ahsoka that does a great job of balancing the Anakin/Obi-Wan duo as well as give Anakin's character different dimensions to build out on. The rush that hurt the movies is never felt here where they can relax and truly tell good action while developing the characters. I have been holding off on my star wars fic for awhile now trying to come up with an idea that isn't tired or way too hard to do, and I've come up with one, but I'm waiting to finish the entire first season. I love this show, and I hope any star wars fan gives it a try, because it is just 20 minutes of good Star Wars Universe action going on. Gives me great hope for the live-action series in the not-too distant future.

I am now six episodes into Legend of the Seeker and I CAN NOT GET ENOUGH! I've fallen hard for this show in ways that even surprised me. I have been missing a syndicated series that I'd watch all the time (Hercules, Xena) and this one fits the bill and more. The mysteries I've wondered from the last post are still there and new things to watch like the development of Richard/Kahlan, the revelation of Zedd as Richard's grandfather (totally thought he was going to reveal to Kahlan that he was impotent XD). I can't wait to see more of the series and will try to double up to catch up faster. Although every episode now I'm wondering where Kahlan keeps all of her outfits, I see her in the white dress, the green one and then like a leather one. It puzzles me.

Lastly, I'm wondering if anyone knows any websites or LJ/DW communities for any of these shows so I can check them out. I've found wikis and a few places but I'd like to look for icons, fic and things (maybe to make my own) so if you can share any places to go that would be awesome. I'm in desperate need to display my fandom for these shows. :)

PS: Trying to decide if I should check out True Blood. Keep hearing good things about it.
