Manga Thoughts aka Down with Shoujo!
Alright I've had enough with Shoujo series! The creators just seem to put drama for the sake of having drama and these cute characters or story ideas take twists and turns that make me just so depressed reading them. Grrrr.
I'm very much so the happy ending type of person and this genre/demographic is just not mixing well with me at all. Wanting to try different series of mangas I ended up subscribing to Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat for a few years, to experience other stuff I might never have tried. Honestly most of the SB titles never hit it off with me for obvious reasons but three did. Absolute Boyfriend, Crimson Hero & NANA.
I enjoyed the story idea for AB, the main character in CH and the main characters of NANA, all reasons that drew me to said series. Saying that, two have disappointed me/are disappointing me and with the same signs showing up in almost all of them I'm just not even risking getting my hopes dashed with CH. The "happy ending" in AB, while honestly being the only realistic one was not the one I was wanting, and having finished my sub of Shojo Beat i decided to see where NANA is online and skipped to the latest chapter to totally ruin my enthusiasm for the series. Now I clearly knew before doing that, that the ending I want for that series will most never happen but just to go where they went ... Not even daytime Soaps are this cruel. I'm not even going to read that series anymore until it's done and i'll peek at the end and see if it's what I want to endure through all that suffering for. I'm done with it.
And lastly, I caught the last bit of Imagine Me & You last night on HBO and just how could they fuck over the guy like that. Poor guy, and that's why I didn't care to see the movie even because the type of love story it was you knew the guy would get fucked over. And no, him happening to sit next to some hottie on the plane is not acceptable because that's just terribly unrealistic and it was clearly the writers going "oh we really fucked over the guy lets throw him a bone before the movie ends so the women don't seem like total bitches."
P.P.S. Not related but Shinji is so damn annoying in Neon Genesis Evangelion. I need to see EOE but I won't let myself because it's SAD. =[
