One More Time...
Strangely enough I can still find aspects of HP fanfiction that bug me to one degree or another. Perhaps even stranger is that I continue to post one of these pet peeves post roughly 4 months apart.
19) Why are there so many superficial changes that need to take place for Hermione to look "beautiful" in fics? And it has become pretty prevalent in fanfiction that once Hermione becomes aware of her sexuality and femininity that her hair clearly needs to be altered from its natural look and become straight. Why? There is nothing wrong with bushy hair, be it curly, wavy or in whatever style, it can look fine with care. I just find it sad that she needs to have straight hair to look "better". This same thing happens with Harry in regards to his glasses. 90% of the time he's either getting contacts, or getting his eyes magically healed. What's so bad about wearing glasses? The right ones can be a great accessory and I find they can add to visual appeal.
