Smallville 10.18 "Booster"

Booster was perfectly cast and written. Much better than I expected but again, that character is one that Johns enjoys writing. Arguably my only nitpick would be that I think the uniform had built in ab muscles? That was a bit odd, but something I liked was the adjustment of Skeets to being an ear piece to go with the Smallvillezation of the character.

On to the things I didn't care for in the episode. I didn't like the Kid one bit. I disliked how much of the story revolved around him than Clark, much more for the guest character than in other Geoff Johns written episode. The timid personality was boring and only made me feel sorry for the kid and want him off the show. The Blue Beetle on the other hand ended up much better than I expected, only the first transformation being a little sketchy with the limited TV budget for CG. Still better than the little of Darkseid we've seen (is it just me or have they really downplayed Darkseid? Seems they knew they wouldn't be able to create a good payoff. The end seems all to be Lionel/Lex + Super!Clark).

And the problem that comes with Geoff Johns writing who idolizes classic Superman and unlike previous episodes he's written takes advantage of the need to transition Clark and puts bumbling Clark into overdrive. Going into the typical Clark cliches that aren't even used in the comics anymore and are more annoying than anything. I can't watch Tom as a stuttering unsure Clark. It just doesn't work in this universe, and the oversized trenchcoat was too much as well. Also I'm tired of the repeated reminding that Clark has to be the mask because he doesn't want the Blur to be. WE GET IT. You've said it every single episode for awhile now.

I still can't stand this fake Cat Grant and how the show forgets the one they gave the morning show to. You can't pick and choose what to keep and follow, if it's in the series you have to stand by it. So annoying. Nothing she did was needed, EVER.
