Smallville 10.12 "Collateral"

A character I have been completely disappointed with nearly every time they have shown up on Smallville has to be Black Canary. In this one I could not stand how much of a bitch she was acting towards Chloe, even bringing up the whole Doomsday debacle as proof of Chloe's 'gone rogue' and excluding all the good things she had done before and after. The idea that Clark would listen to Dinah and not himself when it came to Chloe killed me but I enjoyed Lois throwing it back at Dinah that Black Canary was once a lackey for Lex Luthor.

Now the one scene that was a total tease and then stabbed Chlark fans in the chest. Chloe and Clark on the top of the Daily Planet and her trying to convince him that he was in a fake reality and to trust her, it killed me when he didn't grab her hand. It made no sense for Clark to not Chloe considering everything they had been through, anything she had done good or bad had been for him and that earlier this season when talking about Chloe's disappearance and why he wasn't searching for her it was because he trusted her choices. I was ready to hate the episode after that but that decision led to some other scenes that somewhat made up for it (but not entirely). Lois backing Chloe was great, and the revelation that Chloe's departure and lack of telling him why she left/where she was going had hurt him and was why he had hesitated. Also when the bad guys took over Chloe's avatar and told him how he was the one hero who was reluctant to embrace his abilities and only believed in what he knew around him - thought that contributed to his trust of jumping off the building. And Chloe and Clark's talk at the end of the episode was nice, as was when Lois joined them. I hope the rest of Chloe's time on Smallville she, Clark and Lois are tight.

I am really getting tired of the whole evil military/government adversary. It is a really played angle and I think further evidence that this Darkseid story is going to end badly. I also have a problem with the apparent status quo that everyone important (both good and bad) know that Clark Kent is the blur. One thing that kills me is when stories take away secret identities especially when the enemies know. It never goes well. NEVER. Looks like next week we return to the Clone Lex storyline, hopefully the addition of Lionel, Martha and Chloe? will make it an interesting episode.

This was probably one of the better episodes of Season 10 despite the lack of guest stars, shocking I know. Chloe was awesome in the dream world, I am definitely going to be looking for promo images from the episode and best of all seeing Chlo-Lo action throughout the episode was great. It was easy to see how much the show misses Chloe and thinking about it I like Tess taking over the Watchtower role so that Chloe is not tied down to that anymore. I hope she gets an ambiguous end where she goes off to help Clark & co in other ways ala Martha Kent/Red Queen path that I suggested at the end of last season when the news that Allison was lessening her presence on the show broke.
