It's bittersweet that I can write with a sense of finality on the Legend of the Seeker series and say that I've most likely seen the last episode made. I was always a fan of these syndicated fantasy adventure shows since Hercules and eventually Xena came onto TVs about 15 years ago. I've grown to love this group of characters, Richard, Kahlan, Cara & Zedd, and I hate to say goodbye to them. I'll probably end up reading the books the show was based on but it won't be the same.
I do find it interesting that for the second straight season finale, worlds/universes not like the one we are used to are where we find ourselves in. The first had Richard & Cara sent to the future where Darken Rahl & Kahlan's son ruled, and now in S2 we find Zedd in a world that would have existed had Cara not been around. It's certainly a unique premise with nearly endless possibilities if Zedd continued to do the spell of undoing on different people - could almost be it's own Quantum Leap-like show.
It was a welcome sight to see Jennsen again, I missed her presence on the show but I did like how the Boxes of Orden-commanded Darken Rahl got along so well with her and Richard. Almost a Team Rahl thing going on. I have enjoyed the times Darken Rahl has had to work together with Richard & Co, easily making the second half of the season with him around much more entertaining than the first half. On the same note, it was nice to see Leo Dane again. While I did not like him and Cara's quick flirtation/love interest developing when he was the replacement seeker I did think it was sweet that he and Cara ran into each other in this other world too and seemed to hit it off there as well.
I thought Zed was looking all Mad Scientist like whenever he was performing those undoing ceremonies. That type of spell does seem very dangerous, so I wonder if that world limits that ability to someone like a wizard of the First Order. Seeing the Mord-Sith's help Team Seeker is what I had been hoping would happen since Richard was the sole Lord Rahl at the beginning of S2. It was a short moment but one that I enjoyed. Darken Rahl may be an evil man, but there were some things I think he wasn't too off on. ;)
I was disappointed Sister Nikki reverted towards evil tendencies, I was hoping she was going to be doing her own thing. Which makes me ask do Sisters of the Dark multiply like rabbits? I swear I've seen groups slaughtered through the episodes and yet they keep on coming back in droves. Although it was nice to see that sister of the Light again. Been ages (which is refreshing - unlike the Dark ones).
That ending was incredibly sappy, but I was happy that it left on a happy note much like the first season. Also you could totally see in Richard and Kahlan's eyes that they were in for a passionate night ahead LOL but even more so I loved when Zedd was all giddy over Cara being around them and her being wigged out by it. Maybe I'll be spurned on to write some fanfic on Seeker someday as a way to continue my enjoyment of the characters, but until then I'll be waiting for the price on the TV sets to become a bit more affordable.
P.S. Keeper Boy was creepy as hell.
