ncis - pyramid

Thankfully for my sanity (and, OK, the sanity of those around me) I got to watch the NCIS finale last night.

:-D

Zach was disappointed, and I'm getting the impression from glancing at the boards that he's not alone.  Basically, he argues that it was unsatisfying for a season finale, too rushed, with everything tied up in neat little bows.  I can ( Read more... )

Oh, thank goodness someone else liked it!

I agree with most of your points, although I'm pretty sure it's not Ziva that Tony is "handling". I have two theories - either it's Vance (which would explain why SecNav didn't want to brief him before they showed Tony the file) or EJ (related to that thingamajig she took out of Levin's arm).

I thought Tony's behaviour with EJ near the end was bizarre, cool and distant, and if SecNav had already spoken with Tony twice about this covert assignment before the meeting at the end of the ep, that would make sense if EJ was the one he was supposed to "handle"?

You're happy about the covert op? To me it feels a bit like a recycling of Season 4. I hope not - why on earth would Tony put himself through that again? (Unless he's been promised something he's been coveting for awhile...Rota, perhaps???)

Oooo, very good point re: Tony's behavior with EJ! Especially when you figure in that microchip she removed from the agent's arm (I can't remember his name, durnit)...she could very well be his assignment. Zach brought up Vance as a possibility, but I'm just not sure that the new SecNav would have even let Vance know what was going on at all. Unless he thought that Vance would figure it out himself anyway, being the covert ops guru that he is, and it was better to cut him off at the pass.

I'd definitely agree that the covert op feels like recycling, not just from season 4, but the mole plotline from season 6 as well. It's less the assignment itself I'm excited for and more the fact that Tony is being given a major assignment at all, and we'll (hopefully) get to enjoy some of those competent agent skills that seemed to be missing for so long! Anything short of hunting down SecNav's missing poodle would make me happy. ;-)

ROTFLMAO!!!

As much as I hate what happened to Tony over the whole Jeanne Benoit thing and how the team treated him, I think S4 Tony is my favourite in terms of sheer competence, and the way they handled his humorous moments. Wasn't that the last season that DPB was involved in? I kind of went downhill after that.

I'm sure I'm alone in this, but I'd like to see Tony go to Rota with a new team on a new show after next season. If anyone could pull it off, MW could. With DPB sueing CBS over LA, its days may be numbered, and they've proven the market will bear two NCIS shows running concurrently. Just put DPB in charge of Tony's show, please!!

S4 is easily my favorite Tony as well, along with S5. I realized that's where pretty much all my fic writing is set - there's so much to work with! And I think you're right, I think DPB left after S4.

A Tony-based show would be interesting, although I'm not sure about DPB running it, only b/c I've heard a lot about how difficult he was to work with. It sounded like if he hadn't left, Mark Harmon would have, and it would take a LOT to get MH to walk away. Maybe if he was an advisor or something? He creates some darn good stuff, that's for sure!

Yup. Brilliant people very often ARE difficult to work with. Goes with the territory, I'm afraid.

I think it was all the little "tweaks" he insisted on that pissed off MH, but those are the very things that made it that much better. It's all in the details, and of course it's the details that everyone picks apart. Coinkidink? I think not...:)
