It takes me FOREVER to write and I feel like the crappiest when other (blessed souls) say "yeah, knocked this up before tea..."
Every line, every word, is work to me so I am inspired that one day maybe the idea/writing bugs will fall into synch and all will be blissful and writery!
I knew, intellectually, that I could NOT be alone in this affliction, but I really appreciate the confirmation!
It would be great to say that anyone who thinks writing is easy is doing it wrong, but I've seen some very good work knocked up before tea. I've also known people who could eat the world and stay slim, but hey, my lot in life is different, I guess. :D
Still, I believe that it's possible to streamline my process a little. I never expect it to be effortless, but there must be, like, methods and tricks to make it a little less painfully slow!
I read somewhere that Flaubert was the same way with Madame Bovary, and while I can't say I take much comfort from Flaubert, it's good to know that some of the greats wrote the same painstaking way I write. Heck, Dickens basically killed himself with it, right?
Your icon looks incredibly like John and Tristan--I mean, Jared and Jensen. *guh*
I'd heard that about Flaubert but Mme Bovary (like Anna Karenina) just doesn't light my fire and as much as I've tried to love it, its just not there for me. I know that was not the point you were making but it is great to get a chance to talk about writing and books and I can get carried away!
Lol - I'll leave you in peace now and continue to mutter to myself quietly! x
