When to change. What to change. Why to change.

I've made a lot of substantive changes in my way of life in 2008, changes in food, clothing, shelter, and transportation, changes that arise from--and go on to create--changes of mind, of belief.

So yesterday during the five-and-a-half hour meeting from hell, I got to categorizing the changes I've made. You know, when the actual meeting material wasn't riveting me to my chair.

Many of them are reductive and eliminative: I no longer use shampoo or grocery bags; I've cut my driving by half, my use of electricity by ten percent or so, and my clutter by 75 percent.

Some are additive and enhancing: I've increased my savings; I have more free time; I walk more.
