Holy crap! I'm still here!

OK, I don't care if no one reads this. I'm still going to update it anyway.

Believe it or not, I've been wanting to update this thing since January this year, but who would've thought that I would put it off until the end of the year? Not me, that's for sure. The reasons? Well, let's start from the top:

1. After an age and a half, I've finally got Wi-Fi working on my Nintendo Wii and DSi! It took a fair amount of figuring out, but now I can access the Wii and DSi's respective shopping channels and Internet browsers. Admittedly, neither of the browsers are as good as a standard PC-based Internet browser, but the one for the DSi has proven useful for a couple of things. Unfortunately, my home's Wi-Fi won't work on my original DS or my DS Lites, so I've had to venture out to find a working hotspot elsewhere for those systems. While I have found one place where I can get a working signal, it's very hit-and-miss. Regardless, I've been "Wi-Fi-ing" the heck out of Pokémon Black and White, using Game Sync, Global Link and picking up the event Victini on both occasions (the Liberty Garden one and the V-Create one).

This was what I was going to update my journal about back in January. I was so overjoyed at getting Wi-Fi working on at least a couple of my devices that I felt like sharing my experiences.

2. I got a Nintendo 3DS when they were released, and I've been playing around with it religiously, using that StreetPass feature and whatever else. I've also downloaded some of those NES and GBA games that are free for those who bought their 3DS's before the big price drop. The Wi-Fi I have at home won't work on my 3DS, so like my other DS's (except the DSi) I've had to find a working hotspot elsewhere. Again, it's a hit-and-miss affair, but at least I've found one other place where my 3DS' Wi-Fi will work.

3. I'm usually browsing around other sites, such as YouTube or Facebook. I finished watching a whole series of video game playthroughs on YouTube not too long ago, and now my eyes are focused on watching online streams of certain TV shows. The site I frequent now is called WatchCartoonOnline.com

4. My real life is as busy now as it has been for the past 2 years or so. I'm still at my local work skills centre and I'm still doing I.T. voluntary work for what is now Age UK, but I'm also actively meeting people for dates and "no strings" fun, if you know what I mean. I was in a relationship with someone for nearly 2 years (Bonus points for the first time meeting them being in person rather than online), but it was forced to end last month because my partner couldn't stand living in the same house as his stepfather and so he's moved down south to live with his real dad. He and I are still good friends, though, and we still see each other online and through texting from time to time.

The last thing he and I did together before he left was go to the Goth Weekend festival in Whitby in November. I've been to Whitby a few times before, but going there for the goth festival makes it so much better! Goths really are some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, regardless of what their dark imagery may have you think. I even went round the town dressed up and had several photos taken. Under "normal" circumstances, I'd be too shy to do that, but because Whitby is such a pleasant town that's open to alternative lifestyles, pretty much every look that was given to me was a positive one. I'd love to go again for the next Goth Weekend in April, but I'll have to see if I can afford the tickets and a better accommodation that's closer to town. When we went last month, we booked the cheapest campsite available, but it was 11 miles away from Whitby. Luckily, I have a friend who lives in that part of the country who was more than happy to drive us between Whitby and the campsite each day we were there.

I mentioned that I'm meeting people for dates and fun. Yeah, I'm at that stage in my life where I don't want to be alone and I want to find someone I can meet and eventually be with, who both looks attractive (to me) and shares similar interests to me, both sexual and non-sexual. The thing is, I've already met quite a few people for sexual encounters, and I'd very much like to continue that, so if I ever get into another relationship with someone, they would have to be as sexually active as I am, if not more so, and they would have to agree to an open relationship, so that not only will I still be able to see other people, but so can my prospective partner, and who knows? Maybe we could share our respective playmates for a whole group-load of fun? ;)

5. Moving on, I recently switched mobile phones, so I now have a Nokia smartphone model dating from last year (Not a touchscreen one, unfortunately). After transferring my SIM card from my old phone to my new one, the Internet stopped working on my new phone because of my SIM card being an Orange one, not a 3 one like my phone, and I've still to contact 3 about getting connected to their network. I also bought a USB cable to transfer data between my phone and my PC, but after stupidly connecting the cable before finding out I needed to install Nokia PC Suite first, I now have a cable that won't work. If I can't find a way to get it working, I'll have to shell out another quid for one that will.

Apart from the usual Easter holiday break up in the Yorkshire Dales (I actually stayed up there twice this year), that's pretty much it for now. If I don't update this journal again before the new year, then I hope whoever is reading this will have a Happy Christmas and New Year!

Peace out.
