whisked away to an undisclosed location on Friday. Matt had snuck in early and strewn rose petals everywhere, the clean white linen and quilted comforter covered. little paths of roses, vases on the windowsills, the fireplace already glowing. a four course dinner with champagne, serenaded by a celtic harpist. two-person jacuzzi tub which we soaked in for almost three hours, talking and throwing bubbles at each other. he took me to the Hirshhorn the next day and gracefully endured three hours of exhilirated modern art lectures from me. finally opened the bottle of red wine i brought back from France in August. I have never tasted anything so sweet, like drinking liquid mana. but with a hefty punch that left us both reeling and silly after a glass and a half. typical to our entire relationship, we went low-maintanence and curled on the couch with a bag of peanut m&m's to watch Under the Tuscan Sun at my parent's house in Columbia. they were conveniently away for the weekend at Virginia Beach. the quiet moments together, when we are finally free from both houses of noise and action, finally have peace to ourselves, those are the sweetest luxury.
One Year. i am still always learning more.
