Internet Lesson #5

Welcome back to another lesson with Professor emerald_soul!

Today I witnessed something really stupid and mind boggling, so I thought I'd lay out another lesson. This time we'll be discussing fandoms/stanning.

Exciting huh?

We're all part of a respective fandom and stan for someone to some degree, but when is it too much?

Ugly ass tattoos and stalking people come to mind, but there's also becoming a really annoying defensive, you-completely-have-your-head-up-their-ass kind of stan.

We all get defensive of our faves, but when you're turning around against other fans and saying they're not stanning the "right way" because they have a criticism or two, me thinks you've become what's described above.

I like Kristen. I like Nikki. I like Emilie. I like Anna. I like Rob. But they're all flawed human beings.

They all wear ugly outfits sometimes. They all have horrible hair and makeup sometimes. They date/marry people I think are douches. They say and do things I perceive as stupid, or ignorant, or naive.

That's life. No one's perfect. If I erased those celebs' names and replaced them with my family and friends, it would still be extremely true and I actually know them lmao

In the celeb case, getting so defensive is just weird. These are people you don't know. It's not that serious. And I haven't even mentioned that sometimes they make shitty movies and do shitty acting.

Because that happens. A lot when the people you're stanning for are young.

Pointing those things out don't make you any less of a fan than anyone else if you really like them. It just means you're a sane person who recognizes that no one is ~flawless.

So the OMGZ SUPER FANS who feel like they need to get constantly on other people's cases, need to step the fuck back and think about things for a little bit.

Until next time,

Go with Christ.

Sincerely,

emerald_soul
