Ok, just to make sure we don't have a repeat of last years firefly incident, Nobody and I repeat Nobody buy Serenity for me.
One of Santa's helpers has made it known that a new friend "might" buy it for me, after listening to me rant about Firefly/Serenity for like an hour.
If you were planning on getting it for me or as funds are tight this year and I'm not doing many gifts, you were planning on getting me a gift, you can do me a favor instead...
Each christmas since leaving WSU I have spent anywhere between $100 - $200 in monetary and gift donations to Toys For Tots, and the last two years I've given about $50 in money, and a good number of gifts and food/clothing (I'd donate more, but after TFT I'm pretty tapped out.) to the Airmans' Fund at Wrigth-Patt AFB(This is a fund to help out under privilaged service men and women.)
{Purely as a side note how many of you were aware that because of the extreme left wing demanding base closings and strangling the armed forces funds that 1/3 of U.S. Military personel live below the poverty line? Which means that 1/3 of the casualties suffered in Iraq were people that even with combat pay were making as much, or possibly less than the average McDonalds employee. Yet these individuals still have the courage and fortitude to stand up for what is right, and defend our nation, our allies, and oppressed people around the world. Sorry it's my seasonal political/military bitch. I read your venting without complaint. Thank you for the same consideration.}
So this year instead of buying me stuff, pick up a couple of things that might bring some small amount of hope and joy into a child's life. Hot Wheels and Barbies aren't that expensive and neither are most childrens books, puzzles, and games. It doesn't take much to help, just alittle consideration and some pocket money. And next time you see a marine standing watch over a donation pot and toy bin stop and check for some pocket change, and before you leave tell him/her thank you and shake their hand.
Joyous Yule, Happy Holidays, and Safe Journeys.
