That's really good to hear. I often mention "my girlfriend" in conversation to students or strangers when suitable in conversation. Despite being casual while I do it, I still feel a little bit of a freeze up inside, wondering how the person I'm talking to is processing that information. I've yet to encounter a bad reaction to it yet.

When I took Ro back to the airport last time she was here we "said" our goodbyes the same as any het couple who know they aren't going to see each other again in a long time. While I was very aware of people watching, once again there was no real negative experience to it, and I think myself so lucky to live in a country and age where I can feel safe to express my love to the person I love in public. And as for the guys watching, well, if they started snogging I'd probably sneek a few crafty glances at them too, so fairs fair ;D

Yes, I love when things like this happen to me at work!

You know what I hate though is that fact that women use the word "girlfriend" here to mean "girl that's a friend" a lot. It's frustrating.
