I still need to finish my picspam as to why I heart this show to pieces, but in the meantime, words!
Spoilers for the unaired pilot:
Oh my god, it is the weirdest and cutest thing ever. The music and lighting mean everything has a far more fairytale-like element to it, and the scene in the restaurant, instead of coming across as quite sweet and friendly and Sherlock appearing to be asexual, it honestly seemed more like John actually asking him out and Sherlock being all UMMMMMM.
It's also interesting seeing Lestrade as a measurably less pleasant character, John a bit more openly bitchy, and Sherlock even more of a child. It's so strange seeing elements of the characters we love in these early incarnations of them. I kind of really, really love it given we have the aired episodes for comparison - I think I would have still watched this version of Sherlock, but I would have been a lot gigglier about it and less passionately in love.
Also, with the ending to the pilot? The "I'll sleep well tonight" and "Too right"? I. Er.
Also also, between all of the above and the bit in the restaurant scene about "Are you eating?" "What day is it?", I am kind of... really, really craving a vampire AU specific to that Sherlock universe.
Just saying. And it would be hot.
