so its been a really long time since i wrote in this, but i was never one to keep a journal and i was using a different one for a while. but i thought maybe you would like a little update. so i now live in norfolk virginia until june working at a theatre as an assistant technical director. i live with 2 other women in a house (well really its a duplex, we have the first floor, so actually its a flat). my job is a lot of fun at times, but keeps me very busy. i literally dont leave for weeks on end. the past 2 weeks we have had a childrens theatre company in the building performing the wizard of oz. i thought these guys were suppose to be professional theatre. well they are pretty good for being child actors, but the parents hardly know anything about the proper running of a show. the whole building is a mess. but they will be gone as of sunday night. oh i forgot to mention, we are a road house, which means other companies come here to perform. we dont have our own theatre company. it keeps things rotating a lot. the building is also owned by the community college, so we have lots of college functions happening here on stage.....thats kinda boring and a pain, come on who wants to eat breakfast on stage? ok let me rephrase, who wants 150 people eating on a stage smaller than owu. thats right this place isnt as deep as owu. and they only have 22 fly lines, 4 of which house the electrics and cyc. then of course there is the main curtain, 4 legs and borders. oh and did i mention that we have 2 screens hanging as well. one small, average size for powerpoint presentations, and one large movie screen for the 35 mm movie camera we have in the theatre. so in all reality, there are hardly any free batons. its on a double purchase set, which is interesting, but we have to climb a ladder to the fly rail. most of the legs stay down during the day when in production. we do a lot of dance here too. theres been more dance than theatre listed on the calendar for the year. i am happy and sad about that. glad to see that there is lots of interest in dance, but i miss theatre and the whole process of that. i am sure all of you are bored out of your minds now with me rambling on about stuff you prolly dont care about or know about. but thats what i do down here. as i mentioned to audrey, the leaves havent really started to change here, or at least i havent noticed them yet. looking out my window here at work, i still see green all around. its just started to get a little chilly down here, but its still been staying in the upper 60s and lower 70s, unless its raining, like today. in other news, i have been dating this guy for 2.5 weeks. hes really cool and sweet and we have been spending all free time together. except now hes in the middle of the ocean somewhere for the next week. crazy, weird thing is his name is nick, just like beara. speaking of beara, i havent been able to get a hold of her in the longest time, anyone talk to her recently? hmm oh well. well break a leg tonight with spectacle if you are involved. i've done enough talking for one entry.
