Lavi, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to nearly trip you. I thought you'd stay in bed and rest. I promise I won't do that again. Are you all right?

[manages a little laugh at that] Don't go too fast and don't do so much. I don't want to have to bandage you up even more. [the sound of a bag shifting in his arms] I got us some things for dinner and I found you an extra eye patch.

No, but you'll need it when you get your sight back, won't you? And I'd like that. It's hard making so much food at once. I need to start eating small meals through the day.

If I do... [said low enough that he hoped the journal won't pick it up, but it might]

I'll do what I can, yeah? I ain't useless yet.

[pauses at that] You will. You've never been useless, Lavi. You've always helped me and everyone else. Don't think that you're useless and I know you can help.

Mm.

What food did ya get? Are you almost home?

Some steaks and vegetables. I thought it'd go well with them. I'm almost home, just turning down where our home is now. Did you need anything else? I could go get it quickly.

Nope, that sounds good. I'll be waitin'.

[will be in the kitchen when Allen gets home, carefully getting out pots and pans]

[comes in, closing the door behind him] It's me, Lavi! [makes his way to the kitchen, noticing all the pots and pans sitting out] Thank you. I'm still trying to learn this kitchen. Ah, I'm really sorry about that chair. [sets the groceries on the table, getting out what he needs and putting them on the counter] Did you want to take care of anything?

[turns toward the sound of Allen's voice, his eyes still staring blankly] Don't worry 'bout it, yeah? No harm done. [gets down two plates, working from his photographic memory and sense of touch] I can probably wash and cut up the veggies, I bet.

[smiles lightly, putting some carrots in the bottom of the sink] The carrots are in the bottom of the sink and there's a knife on the cutting board beside it. Just be careful.

Okay, should be able to handle that. [makes his way to the sink and turns the water on, carefully scrubbing the vegetables by sense of touch]

I think everyone's back to normal now, too. There were some really strange things going on before. [starts preparing the steaks as well, pondering what he wants to do with them] I need to start reading cook books...

Yeah, sounded like it. Wonder what I missed. [laughs a little]

Hey, for those steaks, just put some salt and pepper on 'em and put 'em in a pan. They'll be good, yeah? [shakes the carrots dry and puts them on the cutting board, carefully picking up the knife to cut off the tops and slice them into large chunks]
