Fandom should never be for profit or exploitation (LOTR Fan Fiction Archive)

Jul 04, 2011 06:37

For those who haven't already heard, the LOTR Fan Fiction Archive has been sold to an 'enterpreneur' named Keith Mander (who has also recently purchased the Twilight Fanfic archive) with the view to turning it into a money making venture (LOLWUT?). Clearly this guy has absolutely no clue about the shared culture and experience of fandom as a collective meeting place of free debate, discussion, creativity and engagement, fueled by a labour of love.

More information can be found via these links:

Please share these links where ever you can, and help get the word out about this. As far as I'm concerned what this guy is doing spits in the face of what a fan community is all about.

keyboard smash time, dicks: dicks everywhere, clusterfuck, not enough fuck you's in the world, fanfic, say what now?, fan forums, raaaage
