Writer's Block: Time Travel
If you could travel back in time to spend a day with someone, who would it be and why?
Honestly? I would go back and visit my Mom when she was in her early 20's. We'd probably get drunk and do silly things--not unlike what we do today, minus the drinking thing. It'd be cool to hang out with pre-motherhood Mom. She and I are so alike that we'd have a blast. At one point during her early 20's, she and her friend exacted revenge at her friend's boss--I think he was sexually harrassing her--so they took the garbage out of his garbage bin and threw it all over his lawn. Sounds like a good time to me!
It might be cool to hang out with my pre-fatherhood Dad--I have a feeling he'd be a bit more stuffy, but on the other hand, he may not be. He's more of a mystery to me as it is... so it'd be nice to see the other side of Dad.
And while we're on the family thing--it'd be super-fun to go back and hang out with my brother Danny while he was in college. I've always looked up to him--he's been one of my biggest role models because he has a strong work ethic but knows how to have fun too. He's certainly had a lot of interesting moments that I would've liked to be there for--like the time he placed a bet at the Saratoga races and won over $300! Kind man he is, he bought a round of drinks for everyone at his local haunt, and then bought dinner for his friends.
My mind is conjuring up a lot of different people I'd like to spend a day with--people who were witness to historical events, musicians, artists--the list could go on and on.
