A 24-hour trip home turned out to be a great way to play some fannish catch-up.
I finally watched the last four episodes of S4 Merlin, and I have Feelings.
Mostly about Gwen, how much I adore her and am incredibly frustrated by the narrative misogyny she suffers. And Morgana's continuing evil smirking, I want her to have politics! Watching Merlin feels more and more like getting dragged through a whole lot of so-so to get to the good moments - like Mithian, like Arthur's owning up to his wrongdoings against the druids...
Any post S4 recs, dear Merlin f-listers? Mithian fic (esp femslash) would be awesome, as would Morgana + baby dragon or any reimagenings of the finale with more depth to the confrontation between Gwen and Morgana...
Also watched Tintin, which was a fun romp with pretty animation and fairly perfect for four am. Then The Devil Wears Prada just because I know there's femslah for it, and I wasn't expecting it to enjoy it as much as I did. It's smart and funny and all about women with different goals and their relationships to one another! Not to mention my tiny crush on Anne Hathaway...
Then I fell asleep over my backpack on a chair. (It's been a long trip.)
